It's all downhill from here...

Laskiaisrieha is one of the biggest student outdoor sporting events in Finland. It is an annual event organised every Shrove Tuesday at Ullanlinnanmäki in Kaivopuisto. Thousands of students come from all over finland to go sledding downhill and enjoy the festive atmosphere. On top of the free form sledding and fun, there is music, an academic sledding race, and plenty of activities.

The most legendary part of the day is the academic downhill sledding race in which teams race against each other on sleds they have built themselves! Each sled is more inventive, creative and flashy than the last one but only one can win the coveted first prize. In previous year's participants have seen trains, cars, tanks, a dragon's death, and once a team went from the bottom to the top of the hill with their sled!

Laskiaisappro

In the Laskiaisappro student's get to turn their sleds towards the bars of Helsinki's city centre. Depending on your skill level, you can choose which overall patch you want as your reward for making it to the end of the appro. However, the fun doesn't stop there. The night continues with Gravitaatio's fantastic artists and their banger set lists.
